We are delighted to welcome our new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joanna Price, to the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) today (1 September 2016).
RAU announced as first ‘Partner’ of Cirencester’s Abbey 900 celebrations
The Royal Agricultural University is thrilled to be the first festival ‘Partner’ for Abbey 900, sponsoring the yearlong festival of celebrations marking the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Augustinian Abbey of St Mary in Cirencester by King Henry 1 in 1117.
The festival will help the community to understand how Cirencester became the place we live and work in today, celebrate the town’s rich past, and boost tourism and enhance the local economy.
RAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Jo Price, said: “Abbey 900 is a fantastic local initiative, and we are delighted to be able to support this year-long festival celebration. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the people of Cirencester to come together and learn about our shared history. We hope that our sponsorship will help Abbey 900 to engage with the community of Cirencester, and host a series of exciting events in 2017 – which we very much look forward to being a part of.”
In addition to being a festival ‘Partner’, the University has offered to act as co-sponsor in a number of events to be held both at the University and in the town, starting with the Abbey 900 fundraising dinner and auction at the RAU on Friday 25 November 2016.
Details of how to purchase tickets will be released shortly.
