After you’ve proved your idea and are ready to take that final step, your business mentor will support you as you write your business plan. We also have a team of experts such as solicitors, accountants and marketing professionals who can provide you with advice throughout your startup journey.
You will be invited to submit your business plan into the Grand Idea, our business planning competition and pitch your idea to a panel of expert judges. To give you that final boost, we run intensive start-up boot camps aimed at getting your business launched successfully.
Grand Idea Competition
The Grand Idea is our business planning competition for those serious about starting their venture or have already done so. The competition requires students or recent alumnus to submit a business plan on their venture and the finalists will be invited to pitch to a judging panel for the chance to win £1,000 to invest in their business as well as around £3,000 of in-kind business support prizes.
Professional individual advice to help RAU entrepreneurs develop and launch their businesses. Professional include; commercial and IP lawyers, accountants and sector specific experts such as equine and retail.
Launch Camp is a 3 day intensive start-up course which is open to both RAU entrepreneurs and the general public. The event takes place twice a year, winter and summer and includes guest speaker sessions from the Intellectual Property Office and Companies House as well as expert sessions with an accountant and a digital marketing expert. The course is facilitated by an experience enterprise educator with a wealth of experience to draw on.
Once our entrepreneurs have started their businesses we provide them with opportunities to sell their products and services both on and off campus.
