Biography

Appointed Governor in December 2010.

Patricia Broadfoot, CBE. is currently Professor Emerita at the University of Bristol where she has previously been Head of the School of Education, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Pro Vice Chancellor with responsibility for Education.  She was Vice-Chancellor of the University of Gloucestershire until 2010. She holds a B.Sc from Leeds University; an M.Ed from Edinburgh University, a Ph.D from the Open University and a D.Sc and an Honorary D.Litt. from the University of Bristol. 

She consults and writes in the field of assessment and comparative education and has contributed both nationally and internationally to education policy.  She has served as a Council member of the Economic and Social Research Council. 

Professor Broadfoot is currently Vice-Chair of the LLoyds Bank Foundation, a member of the Social Science Expert Panel and Director and Board Chair, of Vital Partnerships Ltd. Bristol. She holds a number of roles in the Diocese of Gloucester.  She is involved with a number of organisations which share her commitment to the pursuit of global sustainability. 

Professor Broadfoot is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and was awarded the CBE for services to Social Science in 2006.

She currently sits on the following Committees: Nominations and is Chair of Remunerations and Staff Committee.
