The different roles of an estate agent in a property transaction. Introducing the various professional bodies and regulations relating to an estate agent. The use, interpretation and range of property data, records and indices. An introduction to property agency and the role of the property agent, including the effect of human behaviour and personality on the process of buying and selling property. The nature of negotiation, including the various negotiating stages, the legal effect of negotiation and the strategies, tactics, behind negotiation.
To achieve credit for this module, students must be able to:
- Identify the different roles of an estate agent in a property transaction.
- Identify the professional bodies and regulations affecting estate agency.
- Describe the mechanics and dynamics of a property transaction process.
- Use information technology to find and present property market data.
- Comment on property negotiations and be able to explain what might be the best approach for negotiations in order to achieve the best results for a range of clients.
