My RAU Experience
Gaining my degree at the RAU has offered me opportunities and a confidence I didn’t have before. Lectures provided an opportunity to listen to outside speakers and to venture out on food based visits and trips. My 20-week work placement gave me first-hand experience in the beverage and drinks industry, where I worked in various departments of the factory giving me knowledge of its processes.
The RAU provided a personal feel to my studies which allowed me to develop and progress as a student.
This really helped to provide insight going forward into my final year and supported me through my dissertation project. In my final year at the RAU and with the support of my tutor I started to look at the options available to me once I had graduated. I wanted to gain further experience and applied for a Quality Auditor’s role with the Greencore Group, where I went on to audit production lines manufacturing chilled deserts for M&S. I gained successful experience from this role and have since progressed to work on a Carbon Footprinting project on behalf of another major retailer.
What I gained from the RAU
The RAU provided a personal feel to my studies which allowed me to develop and progress as a student. I didn’t ever believe a degree would open up so many opportunities to me. It has most definitely set me up with the transferable skills required in such a dynamic and exciting industry.
