Local families love lambing weekend
The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) was delighted to welcome more than 1,000 people to its popular lambing weekend on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 March 2017, and raised a staggering £1,200 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The University opened the gates of its Harnhill Manor Farm to families and members of the local community, and invited them to find out what goes on during lambing season. Visitors had the chance to get up close to the lambs, and see some being born. Families enjoyed tractor and trailer rides, educational displays on farming and food production, and met RAU students and staff.
RAU Farms Director, Tom Overbury, said: “The lambing weekend was a huge success, it was fantastic to welcome so many people to the University farm. Families and children could gain an insight in to what happens on a modern farm, and find out about the sheep, calves, pigs, and other enterprises.”
