Appointed Governor in April 2014.
Alison was born and brought up in Bristol and attended Badminton School and was invited back to be a Governor in 1985 until present day. Alison began her early career by working abroad where she learnt to speak French and once back in England became a Production Assistant for the BBC. After a career break she built a very successful and well known rural tourist attraction at the family farm with over 100,000 visitors a year.
Alison was on the North Avon Advisory Panel at the Lord Chancellor’s Department for the selection of Magistrates from 1995 until 2001.
From 1997 to 2004 she was a member of the Lord Chancellor’s Panel of lay interviewers in London.
Alison is currently Chairman of Governors at Badminton School and has also been a Governor of Colston’s Collegiate School in Bristol since 2006. She was also a lay member of Council of the University of Bristol from 1998 to 2010 and became Deputy Chairman of the University Council from 2007 until 2010. In 2009 she was elected as Pro Chancellor and in 2011 received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws.
Alison has been involved in a number of charity projects, including ActionAid, The Gloucestershire Society, Fairbridge West. She is Trustee of the J & M Britton Charitable Trust and Trustee of the Armadillo Youth Centre, Yate.
Alison is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and enjoys walking, sailing and skiing.
