Course overview

This degree course with a foundation year incorporates an extra year of study at the start of your course, so that you can progress with confidence. It will develop the skills you need for your later studies. It is particularly suitable if:

  • You don’t have the grades for immediate entry onto a three-year course
  • You have non-traditional qualifications or experience
  • You’re starting university after some time away from education
  • You’re looking for more support during the transition into university study

You will be immersed into the world of international business with a free study tour to Europe to meet entrepreneurs and explore their businesses. You will also attend networking events and gain contacts through our alumni network.

Upon completion you will receive the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 6 Diploma in Management and Leadership. Also, annual membership to CMI is free for one year after graduation.

Work placement

In the second year, you will apply and develop your expertise during a 15-week work placement. Not only could you find yourself working for prestigious companies in the UK or across the world, you will develop confidence and industry contacts.

International study tour

As part of the 'Entrepreneur in Action' module which is taken in the first year, the entire course of students are taken on a free study tour to a foreign country. In the last three years, we have visited Spain, Bulgaria and Germany. During these study tours we visit entrepreneurs and their businesses with a view to learn the character traits of successful entrepreneurs and how this can be applied to your own personal development.  All travel, accommodation and breakfasts are paid for by the University and it provides you with an amazing experience to meet agri-entrepreneurs.

Accreditations and partnerships

We are delighted to work with a wider range of businesses, partners and accreditation organisations, some of which are shown below:

Please note that a foundation year is not the same as a foundation degree (FdSc). A foundation year will usually lead onto a three-year degree course, whereas a foundation degree is a standalone qualification generally studied for two years.
