Dyslexia and disability support staff
Dr John Conway
Dr John Conway has been working with dyslexic / disabled students for over 20 years, and is a director of the National Association for Disability Practitioners [NADP] and also a member of the national executive of the Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education [ADSHE].
John is also a member of the Disabled Student Sector Leadership Group set up by the Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation to advise on developing inclusive practice.
My role is to provide advice and guidance to any dyslexic or otherwise disabled student, and to ensure that all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment are adjusted appropriately to your needs. I can provide detailed advice on the DSA and help with the various stages of the application and assessment process.
I created this role because I believe passionately that students with impairments should not be “disabled” by any part of our management of your learning environment.
Please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org or ext. 2234 with any enquiries or concerns you may have about studying at university especially here at the Royal Agricultural University or about the Disabled Students’ Allowance.
Cathy Conway is a fully-qualified dyslexia specialist (PATOSS / AMBDA) with 15 years’ experience in supporting students with a variety of dyslexic and specific learning differences.
I provide a screening service for students who suspect [or whom we suspect] may be dyslexic, as well as one-to-one support in a range of study skills including note taking, revision & examination strategies.
I also have a wealth of experience in helping students with a wide range of disabilities (such as ADD, ADHD, ASD, Asperger’s) in areas such as mentoring, organisation and time keeping.
