The Laboratory Team prides itself on its support of students and practical teaching within the Land Laboratories and related fieldwork facilities, enabling students to flourish and achieve their true potential. 

If you are a student undertaking a course which will involve laboratory time, you can expect the Laboratory Team to: 

  • Give you a laboratory health and safety induction and support your health and safety needs whilst in the laboratories

  • Supply teaching material and set up your practical experiments as specified by your module leader, including step-by-step protocols for specialised equipment.

  • Offer assistance and support during experiments, as needed 

  • Provide demonstrations for equipment not accessible to students

  • Offer 1-2-1 training for those of you who would like to use analytical equipment for dissertations 

  • Give assistance with equipment sourcing, ordering and hire as needed (postgraduates) 

  • Run and maintain machines, including troubleshooting and repairs (postgraduates)
