Our Croissants and Questions business breakfast series is designed for those seeking an informal networking experience, with attendees convening over fresh pastries and coffee to listen to an industry guest speaker.

This month our guest speaker is Dr Jonathan M Code who will discuss how agroecology supports the health of people and the planet through food production that puts culture back into agriculture.

About our guest speaker

Dr Jonathan M Code is a Senior Lecturer in Sustainable Land Management and Programme Leader for MSc Agroecology at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU). He has been involved with agroecology practically and in a study of its principles for over thirty years.

Dr Code will consider the tensions – and possibilities – that exist in our food systems between the need for reliable food production, resilient biodiversity, and robust social networks. Agroecology has much to offer in taking up these challenges and he will present case studies that demonstrate the potential for thinking and working with agroecological principles.

During the course of his talk, you will learn more about:

  • Core principles of agroecology
  • How agroecological principles apply in practice to the production of food and regeneration of our environment (with a case study)
  • What it means to put the culture back in agriculture
