Royal Agricultural University to be one of the first venues to screen Cotswolds: Field & Folk
1 July 2026
One of the first screenings of a new feature length documentary film about the Cotswolds will take place at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) next week.
Created especially for the Cotswold National Landscape, Cotswolds: Field & Folk follows a year in the life of the people who farm, shape and care for the Cotswolds landscape.
The film premieres this Friday at an exclusive, invite-only, red carpet event at Malmesbury Town Hall and the RAU screening will take place next Thursday (9 July).
Through the changing seasons, the film explores the deep connection between land, community and tradition, meeting the farmers, conservationists, historians and local voices whose lives are intertwined with this nationally cherished countryside.
From the challenges of modern agriculture to the enduring importance of heritage and stewardship, the documentary offers an intimate portrait of the people working to ensure the Cotswolds continues to thrive for generations to come.
The screening will be followed by a panel Q&A session hosted by Dame Fiona Reynolds, Chair of the RAU's Governing Council and High Sheriff of Gloucestershire 2026-2027, who also features in the film.
She said: “This is a first for the Cotswolds – a film focusing not only on the renowned beauty of our area, but the challenges faced by the landscape and the people who live and work here as we face potentially radical changes.
“The film will be a reference point for years to come and we are thrilled to be showing it at the RAU on 9 July.”
The free screening will take place in the University's Emrys Jones Lecture Theatre at the RAU campus in Cirencester with refreshments (including popcorn!) available from 6pm and the film starting promptly at 6.30 pm.
At the end of the film there will be a Q&A panel session with:
- Dame Fiona Reynolds, Chair of the RAU Governing Council and High Sheriff of Gloucestershire 2026-2027;
- Rebecca Waite, Chief Executive of Cotswolds National Landscape;
- Jonty Brunyee, Regenerative Farmer, Agroecological Consultant and Facilitator;
- Jenny Phelps, Senior Farm Environment Adviser at Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG)
The RAU screening is free, and all are welcome, but please visit https://RAUCotswoldsFieldandFolk.eventbrite.co.uk to register for tickets.
