Students from Uzbekistan's International Agriculture University visit the RAU
20 March 2026
A group of students and staff from the RAU's partner university - the International Agriculture University (IAU) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan - has spent the last week at the RAU for the university's annual bespoke study visit.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students enjoyed a busy programme of academic and recreational activities, including farm visits, lectures, workshops, sports, demonstrations and local trips.
For many this was their first time visiting the UK and, now in the final year of their degrees, it was a full circle experience for many who met RAU Vice-Chancellor Peter McCaffery when he first visited the IAU.
The RAU is a founding partner of the IAU, which was established in 2022 with an aim to lead the reform of higher education in agriculture in Uzbekistan and secure international recognition for agriculture’s role in Uzbekistan's transitional economy and society.
Since 2022, the partnership has enabled IAU students to enjoy an equivalent educational experience to that of our students at the RAU, with IAU students accessing a blend of face-to-face and online lectures and resources, whether as part of an existing RAU degree programme or new degree and modules developed to suit Uzbekistan’s conditions and its international trade ambitions.
