Biography 

Dr Ayodeji Owoeye has been working at the Royal Agricultural University since February 2020. As a qualified accountant with a strong professional background in financial accounting he teaches in the areas of Finance, Accounting and Economics.

Ayodeji is a finance theorist and practitioner with extensive industry and academic expertise across a range of disciplines, including finance, mathematical finance, computational finance, and financial trading, combined with significant academic leadership experience.

Before joining the Royal Agricultural University, he taught a wide range of finance-related courses at several different UK universities over a period of around 10 years. These include Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, the University of Lincoln, Leeds Beckett University and Keele University.

Prior to this, Ayodeji gained 10 years of banking experience in Africa, working for high-profile financial organisations where he was involved in equity and economics research, risk management, credit analysis and audit.

His academic career began in Nigeria, where he obtained a BSc in Economics in 2001 and an MSc in Economics in 2003. He also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). He later studied at Bangor University (UK), where he completed an MBA in Banking and Finance, followed by an MSc in Finance and Investment from the University of Derby (UK), and a PhD in Financial Economics, Banking and Accounting from the University of Salford Business School, Manchester (UK).

Ayodeji has also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) and is a Fellow of the HEA (Higher Education Academy).

Ayodeji has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and has a strong track record of excellent teaching across the universities where he has worked. He currently supervises one PhD student.

Ayodeji's core research mainly focuses on Empirical Finance, Corporate Finance, Financial Modelling, Financial Theory and Management, Financial Derivatives, Investment, Risk & Portfolio Analysis. In addition, he also studies and takes interest in Financial Econometrics, Logit/Probit Model, Time Series Analysis, Double hurdle model and generalized method of moments (GMM).
