Biography

Ian Evans joined the RAU in July 2025, having previously worked at Coventry University, the University of Warwick, Durham University, the University of Sunderland, and Northumbria University.  As an experienced academic (Associate/Assistant Professor/Senior Teaching Fellow), Ian has taught across many subject specialist areas such as Business Excellence, Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Operations Management and Strategy, Project Management, Global Corporate Strategy and Strategic Management, and Research Methods.

Gaining vast and wide industry experienced, Ian spent 15 years in the Automotive Industry as an Operations/Production Manager and New Model Development Manager at a Global Automotive Manufacturer.  In 2008, Ian made a role transition from an industry professional to a postgraduate researcher (specific to the UK Farming and Food Supply Chain – full-time PhD student – first PhD) at Northumbria University.  This role transition not only enabled Ian to leave behind his Automotive Industry safety boots and don a shiny new pair of Academic brogues, but it also enabled Ian to embrace a new and different industry sector.

In 2015, Ian joined Durham University Business School (DUBS), at the University of Durham, teaching Operations and Supply Chain Management as well as undertaking his second PhD (specific to the UK Automotive Supply Chain – part-time PhD student).
