My RAU experience
The course outline for my programme was just perfect. I had reviewed course structures from various schools, but the RAU’s aligned best with my goal of improving agricultural systems through innovation. It offered a balanced knowledge in agriculture, policy, ethics, and farmer-centred innovation.
A real highlight of studying at the RAU was my introduction to the world of Intellectual Property (IP). Writing for assessment and designing solutions for challenges in parts of the world I had no idea about (like Transnistria), was an eye-opener on how agricultural innovation and concepts help solve real-world problems; even the ones that appear intractable from an agricultural perspective.
The experiential nature of learning has been my most enjoyable aspect of studying at the RAU. Through the RAU I have come into contact with various farm systems and honest accounts from stakeholders of food security, particularly farmers who learn to balance decisions that impact many livelihoods.
What I gained from the RAU
As an agri-entrepreneur with a primary background in geospatial engineering, my education at the RAU enables me to balance technology and innovation through grounded knowledge and experiences from the diverse farm systems I have been fortunate to observe. I am committed to contributing meaningfully to improving food systems in Africa and beyond and to shaping sustainable policies in the agricultural sector.
To anyone thinking of studying at the RAU I would encourage them to have an open-mind and embrace all modules and experiences.
