Thinking about university but want to know what it’s really like first?

Our online taster lectures give you the chance to experience teaching at the Royal Agricultural University before you apply. Designed for prospective undergraduate students, these short sessions are led by RAU academics and reflect the style, depth and focus of real undergraduate lectures.

Whether you’re exploring your subject options or deciding where to study, online taster lectures are a great way to get a feel for academic life at the RAU.

What are taster lectures?

RAU taster lectures are 30-45 minute online sessions delivered by experienced academics from across the University. Each lecture introduces a topic from one of our undergraduate courses and shows how it is taught and studied at degree level.

You’ll explore key ideas, real-world examples and current issues within the subject - just like you would as an RAU student.

Why attend a taster lecture?

By joining one of our taster lectures, you will:

  • Experience university-level teaching before you apply
  • Learn directly from an RAU academic who teaches on the course
  • Explore a subject you’re interested in at undergraduate level
  • Gain insight into the teaching style and academic environment at the RAU
  • Ask questions and build confidence about taking the next step to university

Who are taster lectures for?

Our taster lectures are aimed at prospective undergraduate students, including those currently studying at sixth form or college and considering applying to the Royal Agricultural University.

They’re especially useful if you want to:

  • Explore a subject in more depth
  • Check that a course is right for you
  • Understand what university teaching is really like
