RAU Bursary (Stream 2)

The RAU Bursary (Stream 2) offers financial help to eligible undergraduate students for the duration of studies.

About the Bursary

  • Full-time students will receive £3,500 for each year of undergraduate study up to a maximum of £10,500. Part-time payments are pro rata
  • Bursary is payable in three instalments each year in autumn, spring and summer
  • Students awarded a RAU Bursary (Stream 2) are not exempted from applying for an additional award

Eligibility

To be eligible for this bursary, you must: 

  • Be a UK student, resident in England or Wales and entering into your first year of undergraduate or foundation degree course
  • Be entitled to funding for fees and living costs from the relevant Student Finance body and have taken out the full loan for 2023/24
  • Have a household income of £42,875 or less as assessed by the relevant Student Finance body

How do I apply?

There is no need to complete an application form. Eligibility is assessed by the University using the financial information you have shared with Student Finance England/Wales. As a result, you would need to have your Student Finance loan approved by 18 August 2023.

How will I know if I have been successful?

Students will be notified by letter provided via the Bursary Administration Service from Student Finance England/Wales.

Criteria for continuation

If you receive a Support Bursary in your first year, you are guaranteed to receive the Bursary in subsequent years of your course, providing you are academically successful.

Terms and conditions

  • We automatically assess your entitlement for the awards based on information about your household income provided by the relevant Student Finance body. However, we can only do this if you consent to share your financial details when you complete your application with Student Finance England/Wales
  • All Bursary payments are made in three termly instalments and will be made direct to a nominated bank account
  • Students who fail and are required to repeat a year will forego their entitlement to any further core support
  • Students who are ineligible for such support in year one will remain ineligible, even if your household income drops below the qualifying threshold
  • Part-time students studying on a 50% equivalent basis will be entitled to a Support Bursary of £1,750 per year for a maximum of six years, providing they continue to meet the criteria listed above
