The RAU Unicard
The RAU Unicard offers a range of facilities and services to all students and staff.
Your RAU Unicard is a ‘contactless smart card’ and allows you to:
- Access offices, residential buildings and rooms
- Access printing, photocopying and scanning
- Check books out of the Library (and pay your Library fines)
- Access your allocated car parking area
- Your RAU Unicard issued lasts for your entire course, a new card is not issued each year
If you are a student, you will also use your RAU Unicard to:
- Register your attendance at lectures and seminars, which is an essential requirement to ensure your attendance is logged accurately
- ‘Spend’ your Meal Plan Credits to purchase food and drink (non-alcoholic) for residential students with a meal plan
What information is on a RAU Unicard?
The RAU Unicard chip does not store any personal information such as your date of birth, only your student or staff ID number and your RAU Unicard number. The information that is printed on the card is as follows:
Student Unicards:
- Your name
- Your student number
- Your course level
- Library barcode
- A passport style photo
- RAU Unicard number (on the reverse)
- Issue date (on the reverse)
- Expiry date (on the reverse)
- RAU support contact details (on the reverse)
Staff Unicards:
- Name
- Job title and department
- RAU Unicard number
- Library barcode
- A passport style photo
Replacing an RAU Unicard
If your RAU Unicard has been damaged:
Please visit the Student Hub helpdesk in Emrys Jones with your broken unicard.
If your RAU Unicard has been lost or stolen:
Please order a new one via the Online shop.
- If you have not ordered from the RAU’s online shop before, you will need to create an account
- The Registry department will email you once the Unicard is ready for collection from the Student Hub helpdesk (weekdays, 9am-5pm)
- If you order a replacement card outside of office hours and you need access to your on-campus accommodation, please request a temporary access card from Porters’ Lodge
- If you later find your old Unicard, please dispose of it securely, as it cannot be used or re-activated
