The Kaleb Cooper Agriculture Bursary

Kaleb Cooper came from a non-agricultural background but is passionate about all things farming, and giving those who would otherwise be unable to enter the career a chance to follow their dreams and work in agriculture.  

To support this aim, Kaleb launched a bursary at the Royal Agricultural University, contributing £3,000 to a successful applicant who wants to pursue a career in Agriculture, which could be supplemented by a placement with Kaleb and/or his industry partners.

About the Bursary

  • 2 bursaries are available of £3000 each, plus the potential to apply for a work placement with Kaleb and/or his industry partners – this is not guaranteed and will be agreed depending on availability.
  • The prize will be disbursed in two instalments, in January 2025 and April 2025.  

Eligibility

  • You must be aged between 18 – 30 and live in the UK
  • You must be a current student on an undergraduate agricultural degree at the Royal Agricultural University, in any year, including foundation degrees
  • You must have a genuine and demonstrable interest in agriculture
  • Preference may be given to students who are not from a farming/agricultural background and/or who can demonstrate hardship or financial need
  • Eligible courses are:
    • BSc (Hons) Agriculture
    • BSc (Hons) Agriculture (Placement Year)
    • BSc (Hons) Agriculture (Foundation Year)
    • FdSc Agriculture and Farm Management
    • BSc (Hons) Agri-Management (Top-up)

How will I know if I have been successful?

Students will be notified to let them know if their application has been shortlisted. The shortlisted applications will be sent to Kaleb and his team who will make the final decision. The winners will be announced week commencing Monday 2 December 2024, more details about this to follow.

Terms and Conditions

  • Applications will open at 9am on 30th September 2024.
  • The closing date for entries is 5.00pm 28th October 2024. Applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
  • Only information within the application form will be considered. Please do not send any supplementary documentation.
  • The successful student will be asked to appear in publicity for this bursary. This means that by entering, you consent to be involved in promotional activities, including but not limited to use of your photograph, biography, and quotes.
  • You may also be asked to support the promotion of the bursary in following years by appearing in or submitting video or written content, including social media, websites and print publications where appropriate.
  • The successful student will have the opportunity to apply for a placement with Kaleb Cooper Contracting and/or one of his industry partners.
  • If a successful student is deemed to act inappropriately, miss an unreasonable number of lectures and/ or tutorials or secure less than a 2:2 across their year of study, the university holds the right to discontinue funding.
  • The Royal Agricultural University and Kaleb Cooper Contracting do not accept any liability for any applications which are lost, delayed or corrupted as a result of any technical malfunction whether through a website failure, virus or other technical malfunction.
