Scholarships
We offer a number of scholarships for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a range of subject areas. In addition to this, a number of external organisations grant awards which may be of interest to RAU applicants.

English language courses
Students wishing to pursue an English Language programme in the UK prior to commencing their academic programme at the Royal Agricultural University can do so with our partner INTO, based in London.

Undergraduate (Bachelor's degree)
Applicants with Secondary School qualifications (WASSC) will need to undertake an International Foundation Year (IFP).
Applicants Students who hold a HND (Gambia University) or an Advanced Diploma (Management Development Institute) will be considered for DE to Year 1 where high grades achieved and relevant subject studied.
Applicants with A-levels, International Baccalaureate, USA or other international qualifications will be considered, see relevant RAU course pages.
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- WASSCE English grade C6 or above (for Bachelor degrees) or
- IELTS Academic band score 6.0 overall or above with no less than 5.5 in each component.The test must have been taken within two years of the start date of the course.
*Applicants for Foundation degree courses must provide a Secure English Language Test (i.e. IELTS SELT). Please see more information on SELT providers.
Graduate Diploma/Graduate Certificate
UK Bachelor degree 2:1 or higher in a different discipline to that of the Diploma/Certificate applied for
OR
- Bachelor degree (awarded from 2020 onwards) (University of Gambia) or
- Master’s degree (awarded up to 2021) (University of Gambia)
Equivalencies
- 2:1 = Magna cum laude / QPA 3.85
- 2:2 = cum laude QPA / minimum 3.7
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- IELTS Academic band score 6.0 overall or above with no less than 6.0 in each component. The test must have been taken within two years of the start date of the course.
Postgraduate Taught (MSc and MBA)
- UK Bachelor degree Second class or higher
OR
- Bachelor degree (awarded from 2020 onwards) (University of Gambia) or
- Master’s degree (awarded up to 2021) (University of Gambia)
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- IELTS Academic band score 6.5 overall or above with no less than 5.5 in each component. The test must have been taken within two years of the start of the course.
Postgraduate Research
For entry to the MSc by Research applicants are expected to hold a UK Bachelor degree - Upper Second class in a relevant subject area.
OR
- Bachelor degree (awarded from 2020 onwards) (University of Gambia) or
- Master’s degree (awarded up to 2021) (University of Gambia)
For entry to the PhD programme we would require applicants to hold a UK Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area.
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- IELTS band score of minimum 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in Writing and no less than 5.5 in any other component. The test must have been taken within two years of the start of the course.
