My RAU experience

I completed the foundation degree in Environmental Conservation and Heritage Management at the Royal Agricultural University and found both the teaching and course content to be excellent. This, and recommendations from previous students, led me to enrol on to the BSc (Hons) Countryside Management top-up.

The RAU is unique in its ability to provide a rounded approach to countryside management, covering agricultural, sporting and environmental topics with a history of safeguarding the heritage of the countryside whilst embracing new and innovative ideas and techniques.

The education and experiences I received at the RAU were instrumental in my securing my future career.

The diverse choice of modules allowed me to tailor my studies to my interests and career path, with excellent support from both the academic and administrative staff. The location of the University also aided my studies by providing easy access to varied landscape types and wide ranging projects and approaches to land management. The management of the countryside is rapidly changing with ever emerging threats to its financial and environmental stability, as well as presenting new and exciting opportunities.

What I gained from the RAU

The Countryside Management top-up degree helped me understand the current policies and legislation surrounding the industry and how to best utilise my skills to secure employment. The education and experiences I received at the RAU were instrumental in my securing a position with Natural England as well as providing me with lifelong friends and contacts.
