Every year the RAU welcomes students from Australia who come to the UK to receive a world-class education. The International Team at the RAU is always keen to help and support International students seeking education opportunities in the UK.

At the RAU we offer a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes.

Tuition fees

Scholarships

The Royal Agricultural University offers a number of scholarships for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a range of subject areas. In addition to this, a number of external organisations grant awards which may be of interest to RAU applicants.

Entry Requirements 

Entry requirements will vary from course to course and the information on this page is only intended to be a general guide. For individual course requirements, please refer to the course pages.

Undergraduate (Foundation degree)

Applicants with High School qualification:

  • Australian Capital Territor (ACT) - ACT Year 12 Certificate
  • New South Wales (NSW) - Higher School Certificate (HSC)
  • Northern Territory - Northern Territory Certificate of Education (NTCE)
  • Queensland - Queensland Certification of Education
  • South Australia - South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE)
  • Tasmania - Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TCE)
  • Victoria - Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
  • Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
  • Western Australi - Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE)

Bachelor (Honours) degree in a discipline other than Agriculture equivalent to an Upper Second Class Honours (Second Class Division A/One/H2A/H2i) or equivalent.

IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications

Australian nationals are expected to have English at Grade C or higher (Year 10 and above).

Alternatively, non-Australian nationals will need to have:

Undergraduate courses:

IELTS band score 6.0 overall or above with no less than 5.5 in each component of the ‘academic’ IELTS test. The test must have been taken within 2 years of the start date of the course.

*Applicants for Foundation degree courses who are not Majority English Speaking country nationals and require a Student Visa must provide a Secure English Language Test (i.e. UKVI IELTS). Please see more information on SELT providers.

Transfer into Year 2 or Year 3 :

Academic transfers to RAU into Years 2 and 3 are possible. Contact admissions@rau.ac.uk to find out more.

Postgraduate Taught (MSc and MBA)

Typically we require a Bachelor’s Honours degree:

  • Second Class Division A/One/H2A/H2i = UK Lower Second Class Honours 2:1
  • Second Class Division B/Two/H2B/H2ii  = UK Upper second Class Honours 2:2

Applicants who are either:

  • Australian nationals (MES) or
  • have completed a bachelor or higher degree in a Majority English Speaking country (min. 2 years)

meet the English language requirements.

Applicants submitting multiple English language qualifications will be assessed based on the most recent qualification.

IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications

  • IELTS band score 6.5 overall or above with no less than 5.5 in each component of the ‘academic’ IELTS test.  The test must have been taken within two years of the start of the course.

Postgraduate Research

  • For entry to the MSc by Research applicants are expected to hold the equivalent of a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree (2:1).  See Postgraduate Taught entry criteria above for equivalent qualifications.
  • For entry to the PhD programme we would require applicants to hold a Master’s degree or equivalent

Mature candidates with significant relevant work experience and lower academic qualifications may also be considered for entry, following personal interview with the Director of Research.

IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications

  • IELTS (Academic) band score of minimum 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in Writing and no less than 5.5 in any other component. The test must have been taken within two years of the start of the course.
