Scholarships
The Royal Agricultural University offers a number of scholarships for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a range of subject areas. In addition to this, a number of external organisations grant awards which may be of interest to RAU applicants.

English language courses
Students wishing to pursue an English Language programme in the UK prior to commencing their academic programme at the Royal Agricultural University can do so with our partner INTO, based in London.

Undergraduate (Bachelor's degree)
Applicants with:
- WASSCE or Senior School Certificate-NECO is equivalent to GCSE. Applicants will need to undertake an International Foundation Programme (IFP) for entry to undergraduate courses at the RAU
- Applicants with National Diploma / Ordinary National Diploma will be considered for entry to Foundation degree programmes
- Applicants who have completed successfully the 1st year of a relevant subject Nigerian University bachelor degree will be considered for admission to the first year of our Foundation degree courses
- Applicants with a Diploma (2 years) awarded by a recognised university will be considered for entry to Undergraduate bachelor degree programmes
Equivalencies:
- BCC-CCC = WASSCE/SSC/NECO PLUS Diploma or IFP
- CD = WASSCE/SSC/NECO PLUS National Diploma/Ordinary Diploma
Alternatively, applicants with IB, EB, UK or US qualifications will require:
- International Baccalaureate, A-levels or USA or other international equivalent qualifications for bachelor degree programmes see relevant RAU web pages
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- West African Examinations Council SSCE grade A-C in English Language (first sitting) OR
- IELTS Academic band score 6.0 overall or above with no less than 5.5 in each component.The test must have been taken within two years of the start date of the course.
*Applicants for Foundation degree courses must provide a Secure English Language Test (i.e. IELTS SELT). Please see more information on SELT providers.
Graduate Diploma/Graduate Certificate
UK Bachelor degree 2:1 or higher in a different discipline to that of the Diploma/Certificate applied for
Equivalencies
- 2:1= Upper Second-Class Honours 2:1
- 2:2 = Lower Second-Class Honours 2:2
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- IELTS Academic band score 6.0 overall or above with no less than 6.0 in each component. The test must have been taken within two years of the start date of the course.

Postgraduate Taught (MSc and MBA)
UK Bachelor degree Second class or higher
OR
- Nigerian Bachelor Honours’ degree
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- IELTS Academic band score 6.5 overall or above with no less than 5.5 in each component. The test must have been taken within two years of the start of the course.
- Graduates from ENIC approved Nigerian universities may be exempted from English language certification. Please contact admissions@rau.ac.uk.
Postgraduate Research
For entry to the MSc by Research applicants are expected to hold a UK Bachelor degree - Upper Second class in a relevant subject area.
OR
- Bachelor Honors degree (2:1)
For entry to the PhD programme we would require applicants to hold a UK Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area
OR
- Nigerian Master's degree
IELTS and other accepted English language qualifications
- IELTS band score of minimum 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in Writing and no less than 5.5 in any other component. The test must have been taken within two years of the start of the course.
Graduates from ENIC approved Nigerian universities may be exempted from English language certification. Please contact admissions@rau.ac.uk.

Undergraduate
