Biography
Appointed as an Independent Governor in July 2025.
James is a lawyer by training, and has spent over 32 years in a series of investment banking roles at BNP Paribas, HSBC, Salomon Brothers and Citigroup. After founding Man Securities and building a successful equity business he became CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald Europe for 3 years where he effected a turnaround of the business. In 2015 he co-founded Vermeer Investment Management, an institutional fund management business which was sold to a competitor in 2024.
Additionally, farming and land management is of significant interest to James, as an owner of a small livestock farm and he understands the financial challenges of running an agricultural enterprise.
James is Chair of the Finance and Estates Committee.
