Biography
Ryan joined the RAU in January 2019, initially as Head of Catering and Retail, before progressing to the role of Associate Director of Commercial Services, and since January 2025 Director of Campus Experience. In his current role, Ryan oversees various areas of the University experience, including Catering, Hospitality, Accommodation, Retail, Farms, Vineyard and Equine.
Ryan joined the RAU from Bath College where he was Head of the Catering, Hospitality and Spa Industries Department, responsible for the academic delivery and commercial interests. With a background in facilitating high-end experiences at Michelin-starred eateries, celebrity hotspots and premium events, including for Aubergine, Camp Kerala and River Cottage HQ, he has over 20 years of experience in management roles in the hospitality sector and a broad understanding of its joys and challenges.
Ryan is passionate about delivering first-class hospitality in support of the University’s strategic aims. He is committed to improving two-way communication and engagement with the RAU’s key internal and external audiences including students, staff and alumni, ensuring our students enjoy a first-class student experience during their time at the University, as well as all those who work on and visit our campus.
As well as his senior role at the University, he also serves as a trustee for the TUCO Foundation and is on the board of the Students' Union for the University of Suffolk.
