Dr Patricia Mathabe

Biography 

Senior Lecturer in Agricultural Technology.

Dr Mathabe is a South African and she holds a PhD in Plant Sciences from Montana State University in the United States, a MPhil in Biochemistry from University of Cambridge and a Bachelors of Technology from Vaal University of Technology in Biotechnology in South Africa. She has over 20 years of experience working in academia, agricultural industry and government in South Africa, United States and United Kingdom. She has experience in agricultural research proteomics, technology diffusion to small scale farmers, technology development, food security and nutrition and agri-business management. She has graduated Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students from Kenya, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

  • Assessing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) cameras to monitor predation in the cultivation of fruit Agroforestry on Brash Cotswold Soils.
  • Developing soil microbial community abundance and diversity monitoring methods comparing use of phospholipid fatty acid analysis and environmental DNA techniques.
  • Deployment of Drones to monitor the impact of the application of various herbicides on weeds and soils.
  • Employing various technologies to monitor the response of Buck fast bees to different weather conditions and floral availability.
