Still time to join the Royal Agricultural University this September

09 Jul 2020

There is still time to apply to start one of a range of inspiring degree courses at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU).

This week saw the start of Clearing, which gives prospective undergraduate students an opportunity to explore their university options, and offers alternatives if their exam results are not what they expected. It is open to UK, EU and international students.

The RAU is offering spaces on all of its undergraduate courses, including business, environment, wildlife, equine, agriculture, real estate and rural land management.

The Cirencester-based University is planning to reopen fully to both new and returning students in September.

Although arrangements may change depending on ongoing government advice, current plans expect to see facilities including the library, study areas, catering outlets and sports pitches available with a range of robust protective measures in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff, and wider local community.

The University also intends to offer on-site accommodation at its spacious, rural campus to all new students and teaching arrangements will comprise a blend of online and face-to-face learning.

Becky Taylor, Assistant Vice-Chancellor at the RAU, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming students back onto campus in September and have places available on all of our undergraduate courses.

“In this post-Brexit era, coupled with the growing impact of the coronavirus pandemic, education and training in the land management, food security and environment sectors has never been more important.

“The RAU is ideally placed to offer students the opportunity to play a crucial part in the recovery, growth and future protection of our economies and communities. If you are excited about being part of the solution to these global challenges, we would love you to join us.”

Former student Pip Cusack now works with agricultural clients as a Tax Manager, she said: “Studying agriculture at the RAU gave me an in depth knowledge and understanding of the land-based sector, invaluable for my day-to-day work. My three years at the RAU led me to my career and I wouldn’t be here now without the support I gained from my tutors and peers.”

Lewis Bebb, RAU Student Union President, said: “As well as teaching and learning arrangements, the social aspects of university life are an important part of the student experience. We are working closely with the University and our Student Union Officers to develop a social and sport programme that provides students with activities to enjoy, while also ensuring their safety and wellbeing. We have a great sense of community at the RAU and that continues to really shine through as we plan for the autumn.”

The University offers a range of scholarships and support packages including the Core Bursary for students from lower income families and the Widening Access Financial Support Bursary for those living in areas with lower progression rates to university.

UCAS Clearing starts on 6 July and closes on 20 October.
