Students discuss the future of agriculture with DEFRA Under Secretary of State

25 May 2021

The Parliamentary Under Secretary at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Victoria Prentis, met online with Royal Agricultural University (RAU) students to discuss the future of the agriculture sector now that the United Kingdom has left the EU.

The Minister delivered a stimulating and informative webinar on The Farming Transition and answered a range of challenging and carefully considered questions from students on topics ranging from the future of wool to the government’s role in protecting trees, to international trade agreements.

The event was organised by students at part of the RAU Catalyst Programme and hosted by Charlotte Adlung, a postgraduate student on the MSc Sustainable Food & Agriculture Policy programme. Charlotte trained as a journalist and has previous experience in news and current affairs at both BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service.

Lord Bathhurst joined the webinar and gave a closing vote of thanks.
