The Royal Agricultural University is a limited company and a registered charity. The directors and trustees are all non-executive.
There are between 12 and 18 independent governors who are appointed to serve for up to three terms of three years on the Governing Council. The Governing Council can also appoint up to five co-opted governors who provide special skills to Council or work on particular projects. Three elected staff representatives and two Student Union Officers also sit on Governing Council but are not directors or trustees.
Beneath the Governing Council are a range of sub-committees that either report to it directly or through the Senior Management Group; these sub-committees are chaired by governors.
The University is run on a day to day basis by an executive senior management group chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.
The Royal Agricultural University is actively seeking to recruit some additional governors to join its Council and to serve as non-exec directors and charity trustees of this prestigious institution. It welcomes approaches from interested persons who believe they have the necessary skills and enthusiasm to serve, and is particularly interested in those with a background in HE Governance and Widening Participation, finance, estates management, or digital marketing. It would welcome applications both from its alumni and from others who would like to champion the University and help it develop its strategy for the 21st century.
