Wayleave Officer Training Programmes
Our Wayleave Officer Training Courses are aimed at individuals seeking to develop their understanding and competency in dealing with wayleave issues in order to deliver best practice.
Who is the course suitable for?
- Large organisations
- Land management professionals
- Utility companies
Which is the best course for you?
We offer two levels of the course – Foundation and Intermediate – with Advanced level, featuring bespoke content, available on request.
Our Foundation level is suitable for delegates with little previous experience of wayleaves and our Intermediate level is suitable for delegates seeking to enhance their existing knowledge and experience relating to wayleaves.
What you’ll achieve at the end of the course
Delegates, with prior experience or without, will enhance their understanding and competency in dealing with wayleave issues and developing working relationships with clients and other stakeholders, enabling them to fulfil their job role efficiently and effectively.
How is the course delivered?
We offer our course face-to-face (residentially) and also online (live delivery including a virtual farm visit). A hybrid of face-to-face and online delivery is also available.
We adopt a blended learning approach, combining lecture-delivered theory with discussion of real-life examples and farm visits (physically or remotely), to promote understanding of and engagement with course content amongst delegates.
About the Course Leader
Since 1983, Tom Overbury has lectured within the School of Agriculture at the RAU, including as a Principal Lecturer. He has previously managed the University’s mixed farms and when not lecturing, runs his own 150-hectare beef and arable farm.
Tom is supported by external speakers in the delivery of all courses, which includes professional land and estate agents such as Stuart Milsom of Moore Allen & Innocent LLP.
About the guest speaker
Stuart Milsom is Head of Agriculture at leading local land and estate agency firm Moore Allen & Innocent LLP. Stuart has extensive experience in representing clients against various utility companies when they require access to private land, either under statutory powers or by negotiation, which informs his delivery of course content and the real-life examples discussed.
