Course overview

I'm so glad I came to the RAU because most of my course has been outside and for me that is such a big thing. Honestly it's such an amazing place and such an amazing campus, it's absolutely beautiful here.

I like the fact that it's a very small university and I quite like the close-knitness that that gives.

I'm from London myself so the thought of getting out of the city and being more rural definitely appealed to me.

A high-level delegation from the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, including representatives from the Sharjah Private Education Authority, University of Sharjah, Sharjah Department of Public Works, and Sharjah Agriculture and Livestock Authority, has spent time visiting, and meeting senior staff at, the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) this week.

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) and Royal Holloway, University of London, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreeing to collaborate on science and agriculture research projects and develop knowledge exchange opportunities, as well as sharing teaching and outreach expertise.

The MoU will enhance the knowledge of both institutions through Royal Holloway’s world-renowned research in biological science and with the RAU as one of the UK’s leading agricultural universities for sustainable farming and land management.

Animal welfare lecturers and researchers at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) have welcomed a new welfare strategy which has been adopted by the UK dairy industry – a move that they recommended in a paper written last year.

The new UK Dairy Cattle Welfare Strategy – produced by Ruminant Health & Welfare and supported by a host of industry leaders and organisations across the whole farm to fork supply chain - is designed to help the UK dairy sector demonstrate progress in six key areas of cow welfare over the next five years.

Hedgehog Friendly Campus

In 2022, the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) signed up to become a Hedgehog Friendly Campus (HFC). This is a project funded by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society and started in 2018 in response to the rapidly declining hedgehog population. Hedgehogs are listed as vulnerable to extinction on Britain’s Red List due to habitat loss, developing land and other anthropogenic hazards (e.g. garden maintenance).

RAU new strategy

A new 2028 University Strategy has been approved providing a clear direction to become the Global University for Sustainable Farming and Land Management. Three strategic goals: Reach, Quality and Sustainability drive our Corporate Aims and Aspiration for Excellence.

The University will continue to build a global reputation for excellence and leadership across our teaching, research and engagement. The University will further grow a diverse inclusive community of students and partners in the UK and internationally.
