Professor Peter McCaffery has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) for the new academic year 2021-22, replacing Professor Jo Price who left last month.

Professor McCaffery, who has been Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the RAU since January, has worked in the higher education sector for more than 35 years and has leadership, management, teaching, and research experience across a range of institutions from further education colleges to USA Ivy League universities.

Former University of Liverpool Director of Operations Graham Pollard has joined the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) as its Chief Operating Officer, a new role borne out of the University’s recent review of Professional Services.

Graham joined the RAU earlier this year from the University of Liverpool where he spent the last six years as Director of Operations for the university’s Faculty of Health & Life Sciences.

Prospective undergraduates at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) and the University of Reading are invited to apply for the Jordans and The Prince’s Countryside Fund Sustainable Agriculture Bursary. Successful applicants will get £5,000 of funding throughout their degree.

The Sustainable Agriculture Bursary will fund UK based undergraduate students under the age of 35 to support their academic studies and help pursue their interest in, and knowledge of, sustainable farming and agricultural practices.

A near-complete Anglo-Saxon dwelling and oratory, believed to date from the early 9th century, has been discovered in Derbyshire by archaeologists from the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) and Wessex Archaeology.

Archaeologists from the RAU’s newly-formed Cultural Heritage Institute, working with colleagues from Wessex Archaeology, undertook a detailed survey of the grade II listed Anchor Church Caves between Foremark and Ingleby in South Derbyshire.
