The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) has become just the sixth university to be made a Centre of Excellence by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE).

The RAU is the only small, specialist university to gain the prestigious accreditation, awarded for leading-edge enterprise practice and for making the development of students’ entrepreneurial skills a priority.

Global food industry expert John Pain has been appointed as Chair of the Royal Agricultural University’s (RAU) Governing Council.

John will take over from The Rt Hon Michael Jack CBE – ex Fylde MP, former Chair of Topps Tiles plc and Chairman of Gs Fresh Produce- who retires from the role on 1 January 2020.

John Pain worked for The Wendy’s Company from 2011 to 2019 as Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Middle East (APME), doubling its restaurant count and entering new markets including Kuwait, India and Japan.

University to deliver cultural heritage institute in historic former railway works building

The Royal Agricultural University will deliver a new postgraduate and professional training hub in Swindon to support the cultural heritage industries.

Plans for the hub were launched by University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) last year in response to the national skills gap in archaeology, and a demand from businesses in the South West of England for CPD courses such as heritage management.

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) has announced two new appointments to its senior academic leadership team.

Professor Mike Gooding will join the University in April as Head of School for Agriculture, Food and the Environment. In March Professor Neil Ravenscroft will become Head of School for Real Estate and Land Management.
