Oliver Brooks-Adams, RAU graduate with a First in BSc (Hons) Countryside Management, has been awarded a £500 prize for publishing a paper in the Proceedings of the Cotteswold Naturalists’ Field Club (CNFC).

The paper, which was related to Olly’s dissertation, considered public access in conservation areas and the effectiveness of different signage in managing this.

David Bozward and Jonathan Brunyee (School of Business and Entrepreneurship) are working to develop a new initiative with the Indian Institute of Plantation Management (IIPM) based in Bangalore. A Memorandum of Understanding was agreed and signed off in December, and David visited Bangalore in March to meet with academic and RAU alumni.

Dr John Mano Raj and Dr Vijaya Kumar, lead IIPM academics, recently visited the RAU to meet the team and to develop programme details.

In 2019 50 students studying Business and Entrepreneurship went to Berlin in March on a successful and inspiring four-day study tour. First year degree students teamed up with a cohort from the Enterprise Society and MSc in Business Management to explore the city and its thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Groups visited a range of established and start-up businesses, including a curated concept shopping mall (Bikini Berlin), an agritech data company (365Farmnet), and an innovative surplus food retail outlet (Sirplus).

Original artwork, glittering sunglasses and a tourism company were just some of the growing student businesses on show at this year’s Cirencester youth market.

The event doubled in size from 2018 with twenty four stalls in total. Eight enterprises on show from the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) included its own Muddy Wellies beer and Cotswold Hills dry white wine, as well as businesses ranging from clothing to marketing services.

More than 600 people came to Harnhill Manor Farm to watch this key event in the rural calendar - twice as many as last year which was affected by snow.
