Paying tuition fees
Tuition fees cover the cost of a student’s academic studies. This usually includes teaching costs, registration and examination fees. Please find specific course fees on the individual course pages.
It is University policy to not send out invoices to students for payment of tuition fees, the tuition fees due will appear on your student online account when you complete your on line registration.
You will need to make arrangements to pay your Tuition Fees and University Charges before you can complete your registration with the University. It is important that you make sure this is completed before you arrive
How your Tuition Fees are paid to the University will depend on the type of student you are and who is paying the fees for your course.
If you are paying your own fees then these can either be paid in full at the start of the academic year or you may be able to pay in 3 termly instalments if you choose to pay by debit/credit card on the on-line portal only. It is important to make sure you have sufficient funding to pay your fees before you commence your course.

Paying fees on behalf of a student
If you are a third party wishing to make a payment on behalf of a student, the following options are available to you:
Online Payments by Debit or Credit Cards
This is our preferred payment method for tuition fees, accommodation charges and University charges. We accept all major credit cards, excluding American Express and Diners.
To pay on line you will need to know the amount that is due for payment, the student’s ID number and date of birth.
- One off Card Payment – You can enter an amount to be paid by debit or credit card. Your payment will be processed immediately and the amount entered collected at that time.
- Recurring Card Payment (RCP) – You can agree to pay tuition fees and accommodation charges by instalments using a debit or credit card. Once a recurring card payment agreement is in place, all payments will be taken automatically on our payment due dates and therefore you do not need to do anything further. (If you change your card details let us know or subsequent payments will fail.)

For January or February course start dates where you are not paying your fees in full please contact the Student Finance department on: 01285 889894 / 01285 889808 (09.00 - 17.00 Monday - Friday) to set up a Recurring Card Payment (RCP).
If you are making your payment by bank transfer, please ensure your payment is processed by your bank at least 5 working days before your payment is due. The amount of the transfer should cover all the handling charges. Bank transfers cannot be used to pay fees in termly instalments (this does not apply to Tuition Fee Deposits you may have been requested to pay direct to our bank account). To ensure there is no delay in allocating your payment, please ask your bank to quote:
- Student’s full name and ID Number
- What the payment is for (e.g. tuition fees, accommodation fees, University charges etc.)

If you wish to discuss a student's account with the Student Finance team you must first get the student's authorisation.

RAU Online Store
The RAU online store offers a range of goods and services from various departments, such as Dissertation Printing, Replacement ID cards, Gym Subscriptions and Short Courses, which can be paid for by debit or credit card.
Examination resits and Coursework Resubmissions should be paid for on the RAU online store.
